Visible Cutaway Practice Lock
We’re excited to offer what we feel is the best way to practice your lock picking skills for pin and tumbler locks.
The Visible Cutaway Practice Lock will enable you to see, as well as feel each pin move independently. Knowing how a lock works both inside and out, will not only help you improve your skills, but also learn more about the illusion of security.
We offer three different versions of the Visible Cutaway Practice Lock, Standard Pins, Spool Pins and Serrated Pins. The difference being that spool pins and serrated pins, sometimes referred to as security pins, are often put into a lock to “prevent” picking.
If you’re familiar enough with how they operate, they do little more than slow someone down. Then again, all security is just about buying time. Picking a spool pin can produce a “false set,” binding on the thinner middle section of the hourglass-shaped pin. Serrated pins offer the same false set, due to the small serrations getting caught at the shear line. Standard pins are just that, the type of pins that are commonly found in most locks.
Each Visible Cutaway Practice Lock comes with one key and one key blank. The blank is provided to visually show the key profile, or that the lock will not turn without the correct key.

See through lock
I bought this cause I was just not getting the lock picking skill, this really really helped my skill progress to where I wanted it to be. I am a type of learner where I need to see the big picture then I can see what steps I need to get there and the transparent lock show me what is actual happening when I am picking the lock. excellent training too.
Clear practice lock
This practice lock is a must have, not only to learn technique, but also to learn precisely how to craft improvised tools. You can see clearly whether or not your improvised picks are bent the way they need to be to easily set the pins. You are otherwise left guessing if your failures are tool or technique related. This clear lock also helps you to see what proper tension on your tension wrench looks and feels like.
