It’s a nice pouch but I do NOT like the second generation. I would prefer the buckle instead of the Velcro strap over the top of the radio. I very much wish I could get the buckle and the original gear keeper pouch. Please bring back generation 1! Snd some different colors. Multicam, black multicam etc. I would love some more options
I have a few different radio pouches for my Yaesu, Kenwood and Baofeng hand held radios. Anyone who uses them knows you end up having to fiddle with them throughout the day. Having the flip down function without having to take the radio out is amazing! I love this and will buy a couple more. But!!!! The only downside, and maybe this is something they can update for the v4 model of this pouch... the Velcro straps at the top and bottom of the back (for velcro’ing onto a shoulder strap) cannot take molle behind them. This makes it a 3 space molle attachment which in my opinion isn’t enough for the extended battery handheld radios. With a bigger antenna the radio flip flops and swings because the 3 molle spaces aren’t enough to really lock the pouch down to the cummerbund of a plate carrier. Also the material the molle straps are attached to is soft and pliable which adds to the wiggle when using molle. For v4 if there is a way to get the Malice clips to use the Velcro straps as two additional molle rows I think it would help tremendously. I may try to slice the material between the molle strap and the Velcro to see if I can slide a malice clip through it. That might be the work around. Also, I have attached this with the Velcro straps to the shoulder strap of my ruck. It works REALLY well in that position. I thought it would slide down but it doesn’t. It is rock solid on shoulder straps. But isn’t as rock solid on molle plate carrier cummerbunds...yet. Another request for a v4... cable management. It does work ok to run the cables inside the retention strap and shock cord. But it would be nice to have a better way to run PTT cables, Coax antenna cables, and counter poise tiger tails on and around the pouch. And lastly, one minor request for v4, make it available in Multicam, even if you have to charge extra. This pouch works so well, it is worth the extra money to get a multicam version, especially if you come up with a way to make it a 5 space molle attachement on the back.
